Don’t Let Your Smile Suffer
At Dossett Dental, we feel everyone should have a bright, healthy smile in order to feel their best. If you have chipped, damaged or stained teeth, you may want to consider getting dental crowns.
Crowns are easy to create and look like a natural tooth. They don’t require you to have your teeth pulled, because they’re precisely molded to fit snugly over the tooth. Only a little bit of shaping may be required.
What Are Dental Crowns?
A dental crown is a shell designed to fit over a damaged tooth. We use your dental impressions to create crowns that look as realistic as your natural teeth. Crowns are usually made from porcelain or a precious metal, such as gold or silver. We like to leave it up to you to decide what materials we use for your crown.
During your first visit to us, we will numb the area surrounding the tooth so we can examine it for any decay or infection and doing any necessary reshaping. If a large part of your tooth is missing, we’ll build it up with a special filling material so the crown can fit properly. Next, we make an impression of your tooth with a bit of putty, which we send to the lab to create the crown. Lastly, we’ll put a temporary crown on your tooth to protect it while you wait for your permanent one.
In about two to three weeks, we’ll receive your temporary crown and have you back in for a fitting. Once everything is perfect, we will permanently adhere the crown in place, and voila! Your smile instantly changes.
