Well I come from a dental family because my parents are dentists, my brother is a dentist, my wife is a dentist student. And I've been doing it for 24 years so I think that explains everything. It's my passion and I still love it. Now I was a dentist in Russia. So I graduated in '96 and then I was accepted in the oral and maxillofacial surgery residency. So then I practiced as an oral surgeon for several years until I immigrated to the US. And then in the US I went to San Antonio Dental School, so get licensed as a general dentist. Now I practice general dentistry with an emphasis in oral surgery. Our field of dentistry is changing, changing every day. I see something new every time I go to a convention and it happens at least a month, I see a lot of new things. So I take a lot of classes, roughly probably 80 hours a year because that's the only way to be updated.
Dr. Vladimir Melnikov joined Dossett Dental in 2016, but he has been practicing dentistry since 1996. In addition to his DDS, Dr. Melnikov earned a PhD and is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Melnikov is a third-generation dentist, and he is passionate about continuing his education with over 700 hours of courses beyond his degree, including coursework in implant dentistry and comprehensive dentistry. He completes additional training every other week!
Patients love Dr. Melnikov because he is honest and calm, and he takes the time to listen to his patients. He does not force his patients into decisions. Instead, he works with you as a team member, helping you come up with a plan for your oral health. In fact, the best part of his job is helping people and seeing his patients, still happy, years after treatment.
In his free time, Dr. Melnikov likes to spend time outdoors with his family. He and his wife, Dr. Usherenko, enjoy attending continuing education courses together.
